According to Wikipedia" Joke theft is the act of performing and taking credit for comic material written or performed by another person without their consent and without acknowledging the other person's authorship".

Wow, that all sounds so civilized, does't it -- but it's not. What it actually is: stealing something from you that you've developed from a moment of inspiration and then massaged, fine tuned, and worked to perfection. Joe Rogan said "It's the darkest thing you could do, when a guy or a girl works forever on a bit, and then you just come along at the finished product and snatch it, switch a couple of words around and pretend you came up with it."

If you have a strong platform you can callout the thief, like Comedian George Lopez did when he called out Carlos Mencia on the Howard Stern show, for putting thirteen minutes of stolen material in his HBO special. But if you don't have a big enough platform, or, maybe you don't want to get into a he-said, she-said, they-said thing, there's a new simple solution.

You can register your material as an NFT (Non-Fungible Token) with the Nifty Jokes app. It's an iPhone app designed specifically for comics to protect their material. It's simple, fast and only costs .99 cents. The primary value here is protection of your IP, and the secondary value is the actual value of the NFT itself, but we'll come back to that.

Getting started:

  1. Open Nifty Jokes, and type, or paste your material,
  2. Hit the "Register MY NFT" button, and
  3. Hit the "Purchase NFT" button and your covered.

You now have an immutable  TIME, DATE, and AUTHORSHIP of your material, and you can update material with new NFT's as you refine it.

Nifty Jokes interface makes it possible to mint jokes as NFT's!
It's easy to build your legacy, one NFT at a time, when your most valuable material can be effectively copyrighted for .99 cents!

Also important, is the public or private setting of your account. The default is private, because in general, it's about protecting your material, but in the event you need to callout a thief, Nifty Jokes makes it easy to share or post the details of your NFT online. It's kinda nice to be armed and dangerous when traveling that long hard road, building a name for yourself.

Another upgrade is adding royalties to your NFT. It's an option you can add on the checkout page for $1 USD, and of course, you can choose the amount of royalty.  It's an amazing tool because it allows you, down the road, to sell your NFT while retaining publishing and usage rights. For example, let's say you minted a joke and added a 10% royalty to the NFT, and then sold that NFT for (name amount). It's still your material (meaning you can still use the joke as you wish, and you can still callout anyone that steals it), you've only sold the NFT of that joke (sort of like its birth certificate).  As your reputation grows, so does the value of that NFT, and each time it's sold, you receive a 10% royalty of the sale price. FYI: We're currently in development of a unique marketplace that will make listing and selling your NFT's easy and seamless.

On a green note: Oasis Rose vs Ethereum, is 10,000 times greener, 1000 times cheaper, and 100 times faster. It's a no brainer.

Our Mission: Nifty99s apps are a family of NFT apps designed to help creative people protect and profit from their creativity.
